Who loves some good Greek-Mediterranean food? We recently had a night out so thought we would try a new restaurant. We actually were lucky enough to get a night sans kids. It was such a nice treat. That doesn’t happen too often so when it does we have to make it count! The food was so fresh and delicious. We loved every second of our dinner.
I love the combination of Greek and Italian flavors with fresh dill, hints of yogurt, the fresh roasted peppers, feta cheese, tomatoes, olives and eggplant. We also had pepperoncini peppers and grape leaves stuffed with a rice mixture.
Then there is all that fresh pita bread they give you. The pita is so good topped with the homemade Baba Ganoush and dipped into the Tzatziki sauce. I like to top my pita with some Baba Ganoush or Tzatziki then top that with some roasted red peppers and the pepperoncini peppers. It is sweet & tangy but with a slight kick all at once. They also give you fresh cucumbers and tomatoes.
They are more than happy to refill your pita too so you can keep dipping and topping it. No sense in leaving any of it behind. We were so full after having all of that for an appetizer that we ended up wrapping up most of our entree to bring home. This is such a great platter to make for your next party as an appetizer. Guests can help themselves.
Since we liked this restaurant and their food so much I decided to recreate the platter at home. I fed the kids early and my husband and I enjoyed a nice treat after a long day of work. Great thing is you can make a lot of this ahead of time so all you have to do is place everything on a platter when you are ready to eat. Super simple and a great weeknight treat. Our platter had my homemade Baba Ganoush and Tzatziki sauce. It also had Greek olives and my homemade roasted red peppers. I also added some pepperoncini peppers, cucumbers, feta cheese sprinkled with fresh dill, tomatoes and of course some fresh pita bread. We opted for the whole wheat pita bread this time. Check out all my recipes below for the dips and the fire roasted peppers. Try them out and let me know what you think.
