Turkey Meatballs
Makes approx 24 meatballs
Ingredients
1.33 lbs, Ground Turkey
½ Cup, Mozzarella Cheese, chopped
¼ Cup, Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese, grated
S&P
1 Teaspoon, Garlic Powder
1 Teaspoon, Onion Powder
1 Teaspoon, Italian Seasoning
½ Teaspoon, Oregano
1 Teaspoon, Fresh Basil, chopped/julienned
1 Egg
Olive Oil, to drizzle on meatballs
Instructions
Heat oven to 400 Degrees.
Spray a baking sheet, set aside.
Chop up the mozzarella cheese and basil.
In a bowl, combine turkey with all ingredients. Mix well to combine but don’t over mix. Form into meatballs and place on baking sheet. Drizzle each meatball with a little olive oil and bake for approx. 12 minutes. Then transfer the meatballs to sauce on stove to continue cooking or until ready to serve.
Serving Tips
I have also cooked meatballs on the stove in Olive Oil then added them to my sauce. I have also cooked them in my sauce (if making a fresh batch of sauce and cooking all day). However, baking them in the oven with Oil drizzled on them gave them that crispy outer edge I was looking for. They were just as good.
If I don’t have fresh Mozzarella cheese on hand I will use cheese sticks (that the kids eat for lunch/snacks)! Slightly different texture, but still mozzarella cheese and it works great in these meatballs. The cheese starts to melt in the meatballs when they cook.
Serve with your favorite pasta and sauce! This would also be great as an appetizer for your next party. I like to serve these meatballs with my homemade spaghetti sauce and some pasta.
