Holiday Brunch

Only six more days til the big day.  Are you ready for Thanksgiving yet? Are you gearing up for it? I think I have been gearing up since the kids went back to school and the first sighting of pumpkins along with our yearly trip to the Orchard.  I have been testing out and we have been trying recipes, some old & some new ones.  We have found some new favorites that would make great additions to our Holiday gatherings/parties with our friends and family.  It’s also a good idea to try out new recipes ahead of time in case you need to tweak any of the ingredients and before serving them at your Holiday parties.

Gearing up for the Holidays, we hosted a brunch with some family.  Instead of going out to a restaurant I offered to host and make a nice brunch for everyone.  This way I got to spend my time in the kitchen (which I love) and everyone got to eat some home cooked food.  Best of all, it was relaxing and fun.  I actually got to enjoy myself too because I did so much prep the day/night before.

I like to set up my island as a buffet.  Everyone can walk around the entire island and grab whatever they like.  You can even add your plates and silverware to the buffet if they aren’t already on your table.  Make sure to have everything out, like serving utensils and glasses.  Having everything accessible to your guests makes less work for you when it is time for everyone to sit down and eat.

We had some very basic brunch/breakfast food like bacon and chicken/apple sausage, orange juice (which I placed in a pretty glass pitcher).  But then I made some really delicious quiches, an overnight pumpkin french toast, ricotta pancakes with a blueberry sauce, mini cinnamon buns (because with all this food who could eat a large cinnabon)?! I also made pumpkin cheesecake mousse and served some fresh melon.  These recipes would make great additions to your next holiday gathering or breakfast/brunch on the holidays or if you have family coming in for the weekend.  Great thing, there were leftovers to enjoy again later.  Be sure to check out all the recipes from my brunch.
