Happy Monday! I hope you are all off to a great start to your week. If you follow my blog or even my Facebook or Instagram pages, then you probably know that I entered a Cook-Off Challenge recently. I joined “The Ready Steady Cook Club about 2 months ago as a way to connect with and learn from other food enthusiasts like myself. The club currently has about 90 members and all members are cooks, chefs and food lovers from all around the globe. The group was created and is managed by Colin Nwese. Colin is the creator of “The Simple Cook” Food Blog. Be sure to check out the link to Colin’s website below along with some other members of the group.
The club is a fun way to share our take on recipes and cuisine we like to create, cook and eat. I have always thought that food is a great way to bring people together, whether it is with your family or friends or in this case with people from all over the world. It is teaching me about cuisines from other parts of the world and in some cases with ingredients that I was not familiar with. Since joining the group and connecting with so many talented cooks & chefs, it has given me much inspiration with my cooking. I have always known how much I enjoy cooking. But, since joining the group, I find that I push myself further creatively in the kitchen, in creating recipes, with my cooking and as a result I get to watch others enjoy the food I create. That is such an amazing feeling.
The group also participates in Cook-Off Challenges. One member of the group will pick a bag of ingredients (sticking to an agreed upon budget) and the members of the group get to create 1-2 dishes using the list of ingredients picked out for us along with a list of free ingredients (pantry staples). The recipes are then posted for all members to view. We also post them on our own Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest pages. It is fun to see different takes on the same ingredients. The most recent cook-off challenge in February had a twist. The cook-off was now being judged to find the best use of these ingredients.
Not only did I want to share this club with my followers, but I also wanted to share some great news! I woke up this morning to find out that I was the WINNER of “BEST OVERALL DISH” in this most recent challenge for my creation/recipe for Turkey Taco w/Sweet Potato and Carrot Slaw.
What an awesome way to start out my week! I want to give a shout out and big thank you to our judge, Carole Turner. She had a big job to do with many great dishes to pick from. Also, I would like to thank Colin Nwese for not only creating and managing The Ready Steady Cook Club but for reaching out a couple of months ago to invite me to be a part of this amazing group. It is truly an awesome group for Food Bloggers from all over the world to share their food creations. Being a part of this group has given me so much exposure to the world of food bloggers. I have learned so much in such a short time period. I truly think it has helped me to grow as a cook. I owe a big thank you to all the members of The Ready Steady Cook Club.
