Caprese Salad
Makes approx. 4-5 Servings
Ingredients
1 Large Heirloom Tomato
5 Slices, Fresh Mozzarella Cheese
6 Basil leaves (Fresh Basil)
1-2 Tablespoons, Olive Oil
1-2 Tablespoons, Balsamic Glaze
S&P
Instructions
Slice the tomato into thick slices. Place them onto a platter. Slice the mozzarella into thick slices and top each piece of tomato with a slice of the cheese.
Cut the basil into thin slices/ribbons (chiffonade). You can do this by stacking the leaves on top of each other, then you can gently roll them into a cigar. Then take a knife and slice them into thin ribbons.
Drizzle Olive Oil over the tomatoes. Then drizzle the Balsamic Glaze over them. Sprinkle with S&P and basil.
That’s it! Super easy and oh so delicious!
Mangia! Enjoy!
Tips
1 Large Tomato should yield about 5 nice slices. If you need to make more than 4-5 servings then add another tomato. If you are serving this as a side dish, most people will eat 1-2 tomato slices. You can also use any type of tomato you like. I have even made this using the smaller little balls of mozzarella with smaller grape/cherry tomatoes. If I use the smaller tomatoes and smaller balls of cheese, I serve in a bowl and just toss all together. You can really have fun with this dish by using different colored tomatoes.
If you like garlic, add a sprinkle of some garlic salt to the tomatoes.
