Au Gratin Potatoes
Ingredients
10 small-medium size Potatoes, thinly sliced
3 Tablespoons, Butter, unsalted
3 Tablespoons, All-Purpose Flour
1 Cup, Light Cream
1 Cup, Heavy Cream
1 Teaspoon, Garlic Salt
1/4 Cup, Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese, shredded
1/4 Cup, White Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
Good Pinch, S&P
Instructions
Preheat Oven to 400F. Spray a baking dish with cooking spray.
Slice the potatoes very thinly. Arrange the potatoes in the baking dish (work your way around the dish, adding 1 layer of potatoes). Leave the rest of the potatoes (for 2nd layer on the cutting board while you make the cheese sauce).
Place a small sauce pan on the stove, over medium-low heat. Add the butter. Once the butter is melted, add the flour and whisk. Cook for about 2 minutes then slowly add the cream, whisking until nice and hot. Season with garlic salt and S&P. Once hot, add the cheeses and remove from heat. Stir until cheese is melted.
Pour about 1/2 of the cheese sauce over the potatoes. Add the 2nd layer of potatoes then the remaining cheese sauce over top. Bake in the oven for approx. 45-60 minutes, until it is bubbly and the potatoes are tender but crispy on top. Remove from the oven and serve as a side dish.
Mangia! Enjoy!
