All you football fans, this one is for you! I first tried this dip at a party recently where some friends had brought this incredibly tasty treat. I had never seen anything like it and didn’t know what to expect. But, after the first bite we were all hooked. I thought it was the coolest appetizer I had ever seen. So simple yet so good. Who would’ve ever thought to take all the fixings on a hoagie and turn it into a dip? I have to say, this is seriously clever and a recipe that I just had to add to my list of appetizers. A must have for all the football games! I think it is such a great way to serve hoagies at your party. Instead of serving large hoagies that can be messy and may not get eaten, serve it as a dip and let your guests top their own pieces of bread. It’s genius!
Feel free to go outside the box by adding your favorite hoagie toppings. You could add purple onions instead of white onions or add some Prosciutto to the mix. I took the liberty of adding some Pepperoncini peppers to the dip. We love these sweet and tangy little peppers all on their own. They are so good added into this dip too. The great thing with this dip is the longer it sits, the more the flavors merry and intensify.
What will you be serving for your game day snacks? You have to try this one!

6 small, Pepperoncini Peppers, finely chopped

Cut all the meats and cheeses into small pieces and place into a small bowl.
Chop the pepperoncini peppers and add them to the meats/cheeses. Add the chopped onion and oregano and mix well.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayo and oil. Add a few turns on the pepper mill. Pour over the meats/cheeses and mix well.
Add the shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes right before you are about to serve the dip. Toss to combine all ingredients. Transfer to a bowl to serve the dip in. Serve with slices of bread (french baguette). Your guests can top the bread themselves. That way your bread stays fresh and doesn’t get too soggy.
Mangia! Enjoy!
Tips
I usually always flavor my food with some kosher salt. However, there is no need to add any extra salt to this dip. The meats and cheeses have a very salty taste to so need for any extra.
You can add any flavors to this dip that you normally would like in a hoagie. I love adding the pepperoncini peppers to this dip. They add a nice hint of a tangy sweetness to the dip. They are so good to eat on their own too.
For the Capocollo meat, it is available in both hot and sweet. The hot Capocollo adds just the right amount of heat or kick to this dip. You can add both hot and sweet to the dip if you like. I opted just for the hot.
This dip will disappear very quickly. If you are serving a big crowd, go ahead and add more of each ingredient to your dip.
